GT present telephones to Upper East REGSEC

Bolgatanga, March 4, GNA- The Upper East Regional branch of the Ghana Telecommunications (GT), on Tuesday presented motorola mobile phones and recharge units worth 1,000 Ghana cedis to the Upper East Regional Security Committee (REGSEC). Mr Eric Asante, Regional Manager of GT, who presented the equipment, said the gesture was to help improve communication among security personnel currently operating in the Bawku Municipality. He said GT had taken note of efforts being made by REGSEC to bring peace to the Bawku area and expressed hope that the presentation would help facilitate the peace process. Mr Asante said the ethnic violence in Bawku had affected the operations of GT as some of the company’s installations had been damaged by fire adding that GT appreciated the work of the security personnel since peace would forestall any further damage to GT property. Mr Alhassan Samari, Regional Minister and Chairman of REGSEC, received the equipment and thanked GT for the gesture, saying it was heart warming to know that efforts of the security personnel had been recognized. He said the phones and recharge units would help ease communication among the security personnel and also boost their morale. 4 March 08
