GSR Bogoso/Prestea donates KVIP to community

Kwame Niampa (W/R), Oct 25, GNA – Golden Star Resources (Bogoso/Prestea) Limited (GSR) has handed over a 10-seater KVIP toilet facility valued at 149 million cedis to Kwame Niampah, a farming community near Prestea on Thursday.

Mr Kojo Appiah-Annin, Senior Community Affairs Superintendent of the company, however, said the management of the facility would be the responsibility of the community.

He said the disposal of solid waste had not been given the needed attention in some communities because they normally defecate around in surrounding bushes.

Mr Annin cautioned against the use of the bush as a toilet since faeces could be washed into streams during rainfall and the use of the water could cause diseases such as typhoid. He said maintaining good environmental sanitation does not depend on a company or one person but should be a responsibility of every individual.

Nana Kwasi Nyame, Chief of Kwame Niampa thanked GSR for the project and asked the people to maintain the facility, adding, 93our health depends on neat environment”.
