GRTCC increases transport fares

Accra, Nov. 20, GNA – The Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) has approved new road transport fares with effect from Tuesday, November 20 2007.

This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Alando A. Sidik, Member, GRTCC and Nana Danso Atekoasa Agyemang, First Vice Chairman, GRTCC on Tuesday.

The statement said fares for Inter-City (long distance) had gone up from GP 80 to GP 88; GP 85 to GP 94; GH=A21.60 to GH=A2 1.76 and GH=A24.40 to GH=A2 4.84.

For trotro, the previous fare of GP 10 would now be GP 11; GP 20 is now GP 22, while GP40 is now GP44.

The fares for taxicabs have gone up to GP40 for one kilometre or part thereof to GH=A23.15 for 39.6 kilometres. The statement directed all members to provide the fare adjustments list at the various loading stations for the general public.
