Group calls on Nana and Alan to step aside for peace

Kumasi, June 10, GNA – A group calling itself “Osonoma United” has appealed to the two frontrunners in the race for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential ticket, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and Mr Alan Kyerematen, to resign from the contest for the sake of the peace and unity of the party.

It said their acrimonious campaign was dividing the party and must not be allowed to continue.

A statement issued by the Coordinator, Kwabena Adjei, said the NPP could not afford to suffer electoral defeat in 2012 because of the presidential ambitions of the two. The leadership of the party should therefore prevail on them to take the back stage since there were other competent personalities with solid record of achievements.

It also cautioned against the use of money to influence delegates to the presidential primaries and said this could destroy the nation’s democracy. 10 June 10
