GRIDCo regrets inconvenience caused by power outage

Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) on Thursday expressed regret at the sudden power outages experienced in some parts of Accra on Wednesday.

It said the power outage was as a result of accumulated smoke on two of the company’s lines at the Heavy Industrial Area, North Kaneshie, Accra due to a fire outbreak in some nearby factories.

This was contained in a statement issued by Mr. Albert Kwesi Quainoo, Head of Public Relations and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

It said GRIDCo’s technical team which was immediately dispatched to the location to inspect the section of lines affected by the fire, observed that the insulation on the lines affected by the fire had been damaged and would need to be replaced before the lines could be restored to service in order to restore power to all outaged customers.

“The company regrets any inconvenience caused by the situation, and wished to thank customers for their cooperation,” it said.**
