GRIDCo explains Sunday’s power outages in Accra

The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has explained that the power outages experienced in parts of Accra over the weekend, were as a result of a delay in returning two of their feeders to service following maintenance work.

A statement signed by Mr. Albert Kwasi Quainoo, Head of Public Relations and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the delay resulted in an overload on the remaining three power transformers leading to a loss of power supply to parts of the capital.

He said in the process, one of the GRIDCo transformers was faulted but had been repaired and returned to service, and that currently all GRIDCo transformers are in operation.

The statement said “GRIDCo and the Electricity Company of Ghana appreciate the understanding of the consumer during such difficult times”.
