GRIDCo apologizes for Wednesday’s power outages

Power transmitter Ghana Grid Company Limited GridCo has apologized for the blackout that hit several parts of the country on Wednesday.

The company says the problem was a result of a “feedback from a generator which went off suddenly, and took the load out”. The situation affected several parts of the country including the Ashanti, Northern, Volta and Greater Accra regions.

Speaking to Kofi Owusu on the Ultimate Morning Show, its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Albert Quainoo assured that the situation has been fixed to ensure better power supply.

“What we have done is to take that mechanism which has been in existence for five years out of service so that this system problem will not happen again,” he assured.

Mr. Albert Quainoo was however unable to tell whether power supply within the world cup period will be constant. He rather stressed the need for people to conserve power to help lessen the bite of the ongoing load shedding program.
