GREL donates to Sekondi Prisons

Sekondi May 15, GNA – The Ghana Rubber Estates Limited, (GREL) on Friday donated a 31 inch- colour television, a DVD player and a power regulator, valued at 800 Ghana Cedis to the HIV/AIDS Counselling Centre of the Sekondi Central Prisons.

Mr. Joseph Garbrah, Human Resource and Administrative Manager of GREL presented the items to Mr. Patrick Darko-Misa, Western Regional Director of the Ghana Prisons at a ceremony in Sekondi.

Mr. Garbrah said the donation was in response to an appeal by the Regional HIV/AIDS Focal Person to the company to facilitate the refurbishment of the centre to enable HIV/AIDS positive prisoners to have access to retroviral drugs and help in the education of the inmates against. He said the GREL had set up a HIV/AIDS Solidarity Fund to support Persons Living with HIV/AIDS in its catchment area.

Mr. Darko-Misa thanked the GREL for the kind gesture and called on other philanthropic organisations and individuals to follow the example and come to the aid of the prison. 15 May 10
