Greenstreet’s election no mistake – Kwesi Pratt Jnr

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) prefers a presidential candidate with physical disability to an able-bodied but mentally weak man, Kwesi Pratt, a journalist and member of the CPP, has said.

According to him, some persons feel the CPP made a mistake by electing Ivor Greenstreet, a person living with disability, as its flag bearer.

But speaking during the launch of the CPP’s manifesto on Saturday October 29, Mr Pratt said: “There are so many things that we hear and sometimes we just laugh them off. There are some people who think that we made a mistake in electing Ivor Kobina Greenstreet as presidential candidate of the Convention People’s Party.

“Why do they say that we made a mistake? Because he has some weakness in his lower limb? We prefer people with lower limb weakness to people with weakness in their thinking abilities. We prefer people with weaknesses in their lower limbs to people with weaknesses in their moral upbringing. We did not make a mistake by electing Ivor Kobina Greenstreet as a presidential candidate.”

He further stated that the choice of Mr Gabby Nketia – a card-bearing member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) – was an attestation that the CPP was accommodating and ready to accept all.

He said: “Everybody in the NPP acknowledges he was highly instrumental in the victory of President Kufour in 2000 and 2004 – Comrade Gabby Nketia. This is something which is very significant. They say we are a small party but they are coming from a bigger party to join us.

And indeed this is the surest signal that the Convention People’s Party is ready to receive and accommodate everybody and so all those in different parties who are dissatisfied with the policies of their parties are welcome to the Convention People’s Party.”
