‘Greatness comes with betrayal’ – Duncan-Williams

No great person can expect not to be betrayed, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has said.

“Betrayal goes with greatness,” he told Joy FM’s Kojo Yankson in an interview to commemorate his 60th birthday, adding: “You can’t be great and not be betrayed and betrayal is not physical, it’s a spirit, it’s a luciferian spirit.”

“Lucifer betrayed God and people will betray you, it doesn’t matter what you do and don’t do for them if the spirit of betrayal has provoked them or deployed them,” the founder of Action Chapel International, who has been in the charismatic ministry for 40 years said.

Archbishop Duncan-Williams said his attitude to betrayal is to succeed.

“And I’ve learnt over the years not to be bitter and not to be offended because when people betray you it’s like a dagger going through your heart and if you don’t understand how to respond and to deal with it, it can kill you and I’m writing a book right now titled ‘mastering betrayal.’

It’s something you have to master. And mastering here means when it doesn’t hurt anymore and when it doesn’t matter anymore and my approach to betrayal is to succeed no matter what because success is a vindicator, and, so, when people betray you, it’s because sometimes they feel you’re finished or they feel you’ve come to the end of yourself or you can’t make it and, so, they are taking opportunity of that to prove they are better than you or can do better than you and people love, especially in this country, to ride in people’s pain and ride on people’s setbacks and challenges.

“And there are people I brought up in ministry, empowered and helped opened doors for them who have become big boys today who will refuse to identify with me,” he said.
