Greater Accra CPP condemns politically motivated violence

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has expressed dismayed at incidents of violence resulting in fatalities in the nationwide on-going biometric voters’ registration exercise.

The Greater Accra Regional Executive Committee of the CPP, expressed the worry in a statement signed by Mr Paul Kwame Anaman, Regional Secretary of the group, copied to Ghana News Agency in Accra.

It reminded politicians of the Political Parties Code of Conducts, and stressed that ”the Code of Conduct signed by all political parties supervised by the Institute of Economic Affairs, mandates the National and Regional Enforcement Bodies to name and shame politicians who would engage in despicable acts”.

The statement called on the leadership of the various political parties to bring their supporters to order any time they went wrong.

It charged the national and regional enforcement bodies to immediately name all political parties that have breached the code.

The statement appealed to political parties to educate their members on the tenets of the code, and the need to be tolerant at all times.

It called on religious bodies, the National House Chiefs and civil society to ensure the peaceful co-existence of the citizenry.**
