GRCS to set up First Aid posts on highways

Kumasi, July 7, GNA – Ghana Red Cross Society (GRCS) is to plant first aid posts on all major highways in the country, Professor Kwabena Mante Bosompem, President of the Society, has said. The measure is to assist respond promptly and in a more professional manner to road emergencies. He noted that unprofessional handling of many accident victims tend to aggravate their wounds.

Professor Bosompem, who was opening a three-day governance orientation workshop for members of the GRCS, said they have already started training commercial drivers on how to administer first aid during car crashes. He said they would also intensify efforts at helping the people with basic health tips.

“Achieving change through improved management”, was the theme of the workshop, which was attended by representatives of all the regions, departmental heads, regional managers and delegates from the International Federation of the Red Cross.

Dr Awudzi Yeboah, Kumasi Metropolitan Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), commended the GRCS for the work it was doing to support health delivery. He gave the assurance that the GHS would collaborate with the society to deliver quality health care to the people. 7 July 10
