Grace Baptist Youth donates to two orphanages

Kumasi, Sept 2, GNA – The Youth Ministry of the Grace Baptist Church in Amakom, Kumasi, has donated items worth about GH1, 000 to the Kumasi Children’s Home and the All Nations Charity Home, all located in the Kumasi Metropolis.

The items included five bags of rice, three cartons of milk, a quantity of baby diapers, three boxes of laundry soap, three gallons of edible oil, a pack of bathroom slippers, four packs of toilet rolls, loaves of bread and a quantity of slightly used clothing among other things.

Pastor Owusu Johnson, the Youth Pastor who led the group, said the donation, which was part of the Ministry’s annual week celebration, was also to obey the Biblical injunction to take care of the needy.

He promised the youth’s continuous support for orphanages and appealed to other Christian organizations to do more to make life more comfortable for the inmates.

Mrs Theresa Xolali Tenga, the Principal Child Care Officer of the Kumasi Childrens’ Home and the Rev Philip Kwasi Nyamekye, Executive Director of the All Nations Charity Home who received the items, thanked the group for the kindness.

The Rev Nyamekye, who is also the head pastor of the Good Shepherd Christian Church, said he was happy that the items came at a time the inmates of the All Nations Charity Home were preparing for a camp meeting.

The Home, located at Ayigya, near the Kwame Nkrumah university of Science and Technology established to provide shelter for street children, now has 50 children who have all been put in school.

He appealed for support from individuals and corporate bodies to help maintain the home which is becoming smaller for the growing number of inmates. .
