GRA shuts down Rattray Park

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has closed down the Rattray Park in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region.

It is not clear why the recreation park has been put under lock and key by the GRA.

Class FM’s correspondent Hafiz Tijani has reported seeing ‘Keep Off’ notices placed at the entrance to the park. The notice read: “Keep off Property, Attached by Commissioner, IRS.”

An eye witness told Hafiz that the GRA officers stormed the park around 11am on Friday and ordered the entire staff and all users of the facility to file out before the place was put under lock and key.

The park is an ultra-modern recreational facility located at the centre of the Garden City. It was named after Robert Sutherland Rattray, CBE, known as Captain R.S. Rattray (1881-1938). He was an early Africanist and a student of the Asante people.
