GPRTU condemns alleged strike by drivers

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), has condemned the alleged strike by commercial transport operators in some parts of Accra.

A statement signed by Mr Stephen K. Okudzeto, the General Secretary of the GPRTU and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the actions of such concerned drivers were unknown to the Union.

It said the GPRTU has a laid down procedure to address grievances and therefore advised that any member of the Union who has any protest should channel them through the proper procedure for redress.

“It has come to the notice of the Management of our Union that some commercial drivers have embarked on sit down strike (on Monday) in some parts of Accra Metropolitan areas,” the statement said.
