GPRTU Central Regional Chairman shot by assailant

Alhaji Rahiyalo Artey, the Central Regional Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), claims he was on Friday night shot by an unknown assailant at Kasoa.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at his bedside at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Accident Centre on Saturday morning, Alhaji Artey said while he was returning home after visiting a workshop, he was ambushed by the unknown assailant.

He said the incident occurred during a power outage with the bullet hitting his right shoulder but he could not identify the assailant who he believes was contracted to kill him.

Alhaji Artey, also the GPRTU Chairman at Kasoa, said when he raised an alarm, the people who came to his rescue, saw an attire and a pump action gun suspected to have been used by the assailant.

He said these were handed over to the Kasoa Police who are still investigating the incident.
