Govt Working New Package For Poly Teachers

The Minister of State in charge of Tertiary Education, Ms Elizabeth Ohene, has said the sector ministry is coming out with a new package for all polytechnic lecturers.

These, she said, will cover upgrading, skills development, capacity-building, salary and research allowances.

She was speaking at the inauguration of a 17-member reconstituted Governing Council of the Ho-Polytechnic at Ho in the Volta Region at the weekend.

According to her, polytechnic education forms an integral part of the country’s economy, and needs special attention to develop the manpower base for industries and improve on technology.

She said, the hasty implementation of the programme without consideration to other factors, has contributed to numerous problems facing the polytechnics today.

Prof. F.O. Kwami, a former Vice-Chancellor of the KNUST is the chairman of the council.
