Govt will use donor assistance to develop the country

Kwasi Addae (Afram Plains), Sept 30, GNA – Mr Solomon Yaw Fordjour, the Afram Plains District Chief Executive, has said the government would ensure the judicious use of the Millennium Challenge Account and donor assistance to enhance the country’s socio-economic development.

He said the government was receiving such assistance because of its prudent economic policies and good governance and appealed Ghanaians to support the government to move the nation forward. Mr Fordjour was addressing the chiefs and people of Kwasi Addae in the Afram Plains District as part of his tour of some communities in the district.

He said the government would construct 650 kilometres of feeder roads in the district.

Mr Fordjour advised parents to take advantage of the capitation grant to send their children to school to reduce the high illiteracy rate among the school going age children in the district. Nana Owoahene Acheampong, the chief of Kwasi Addae, appealed to the district assembly to construct a new block of six classrooms and nursery to replace the old and dilapidated block that is serving six communities.

He appealed for the rehabilitation of feeder roads, provision of tractor services and the supply of improved seeds and insecticide to increase their yield.

The tour took the DCE to communities including Dedeso, Mmradan, Dartekrom, Adomase and Tiase where the people appealed for more teachers to the basic schools, construction of classroom blocks, teachers’ bungalows, rehabilitation of feeder roads and financial assistance from the Poverty Alleviation Fund.
