Govt to reduce poverty & promote good governance

Sakalo (U/W), Aug 08, GNA – An official of the NCCE has said the government’s adoption of the Millennium Development Strategy is aimed at reducing poverty and to promote good health, good education and human development.

It is also a measure to decentralise policies at the local government levels to promote good governance. Mad Mariam Yahaya, Sissala District Directorate of National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), said this at Sakalo in the Sissala East District during an education programme on the Millennium Development Strategy.

She said Action Aid Ghana, a non-governmental organisation, was supporting NCCE to sensitise most community members in the district. The District Directorate appealed to the people to adhere to the programme and to support the government to achieve the goals for the betterment of the entire nation.

Mr Baba Nansia, an official of NCCE, said one of the aims was to curb diseases especially HIV/AIDS which was becoming a threat to society.

He appealed to the government to resource the NCCE to intensify their education programmes.
