Gov’t to honour Volta Region with projects – Minister

Ms. Helen Adjoa Ntoso, the Volta Regional Minister, has noted that, despite the genuine support base of the people of the region to government, there is an infrastructural disconnection to the loyalty.

She said government is, therefore, working expeditiously to bridge the gap as a reward to the unprecedented loyalty.

Ms. Ntoso made the observation during a day’s familiarisation tour of Hohoe where she addressed the traditional authorities.

She reassured the people that government would not renege on seeing the completion of works on the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) and the eastern corridor roads.

She said government is resolving all the financial bottlenecks to leapfrog constructional works, adding, “We are aware the people are expectant. We shall never put the people of the region in shame. We have come so far.”

The Regional Minister said the experiences from the short stint as minister of the Easter Region would inform most of her administration’s activities and appealed to the traditional authorities and major actors to reposition themselves in readiness for hard work and doing things differently.

Togbega Gabusu VI, Paramount Chief of Gbi, said the Regional Coordinating Council should commence procedures to acquire parcels of land earmarked for the UHAS project in Hohoe.

“Do not blame us again, when there is encroachment on the land,” he warned.

He appealed for the relocation of the Hohoe Midwifery School, which had outlived its space allocation.

Togbega Gabusu reminded Ms. Ntoso to carry through a promise made by her predecessor for the construction of a new senior high school under the 200 schools government had offered to build.
