Govt To Donate 161 Ambulance For Emergency Services

The minister of health Hon Joseph Yieleh Chireh has on a remarkable occasion at the weekend officially passed out the V batch of the emergency medical technicians train to offer E.M.T. basic services to the country .

Passing out the newly emergency medical technicians, the health minister said a significant burden of diseases in Ghana is caused by time sensitive illness and injures, such as severe infections, breathing difficulties cause by respiratory infections, dehydration caused by diarrhoea, intentional and unintentional injuries thus road traffic accidents, bleeding after delivery and heart attacks which makes the provision of timely treatment during life- threatening emergencies very crucial to survival.

According to Chireh the current government is committed in ensuring the establishment of an effective emergency medical service E.M.S. system in Ghana, and made mention of the fact that there is nothing worse than feeling helpless while waiting for help to arrive and a commitment of just a few hours could be the difference in life or death , so in that regard, 161 ambulances have been procured and expected in the country by the end of the year, to help solve the emergency needs and transport patients in dye need quick services for faster heath delivery services, whilst he also hinted that plans are advanced to expand the National Ambulance Service to cover 80 district capitals this year , where these graduates will be posted to . The national Ambulance Service has been established with the task of providing pre hospital care P.H.C. to the sick and the wounded and conveying them to health facilities, This follows the National democratic partys N.D.Cs. policy of IMPROVING ACCESSIBILITY.
