Brahoho (B/A) Feb. 10 GNA – The Government is to construct a clinic and two nurses’ quarters at Brahoho and Akuma respectively in Nkoranza District of Brong Ahafo under the Social Investment Fund (SIF) programme.
Mr Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, District Chief Executive, who announced this said the two projects, which would cost several millions of cedis were aimed at enhancing the development of the twin communities. The Chiefs and people of Brahoho at the weekend held a fund-raising rally in support of the project.
Mr. Ampofo-Twumasi commended the community for their self-help spirit, which he said the District Assembly appreciated, as it could not shoulder all development programmes in the district.
He gave the assurance that the Assembly would continue to support communities that would initiate development programmes.
Under the SIF projects, Nkoranza is benefiting from five projects, including the construction of two clinics, two schools and a road network, the DCE added.
Mr. Ampofo-Twumasi said the clinics would be sited at Brahoho-Akuma central point and at Manso on the Techiman-Kintampo road, the schools at two separate school communities while the feeder road that leads from Pruso to Bunkuru would also be constructed.
He stressed the need for the people not to allow themselves to be divided by party politics, but rather to forge ahead in unity to initiate development programmes.
In a welcoming address, the Assembly Member for the area, Mr. Baafi Kodom, expressed gratitude to the District Chief Executive for considering the plight of the people and providing them with the health facility.
Mr. Kodom commended the District Assembly for constructing a six-classroom block for the Local Methodist Primary School to promote education.
On the forth-coming voters’ registration exercise, the Assembly Member appealed to all eligible voters to register to be able to vote during December general election.
Mr. Obeng Boateng, secretary of the community project implementation committee disclosed that residents of the area were contributing 10,000 cedis per man and 5,000 cedis per woman and non-resident 40,000 cedis each in support of the project. He urged non-residents to visit home to assist in the on-going development programmes.
Three non-residents, Mr. Kingsley Osei-Asante from Kumasi, Mr. George Kusi from Sefwi Bekwai and Mr. Kwame Asuah also from Kumasi who jointly presided and together with other special dignitaries and supporters donated 2.2 million cedis towards the projects.
In a joint speech, they commended the leaders of the area for mobilising the people to initiate development projects.
Nana Sarpong Kumankuma, Odikro of the area and Nana Afia Dufie, Queen mother, were present.
