Govt. Spokesperson Denies Media Allegations.

Government says it is NOT true that it spends 150 million Cedis a week on feeding the President and his Staffers at the State House. It has also denied allegations that it orders food from the Golden Tulip.

Reacting to Newspaper allegations, the Deputy Government spokesperson, Mr Kwabena Adjepong, explained that since catering services at the State House, have been privatised, all staff of the Presidency pay ten thousand Cedis (?10,000) for a meal. Dismissing the allegations as an act of mischief, he said the authorities of the Golden Tulip have no records of catering for the Presidents office and Household.

In another development, the Deputy Government spokes person, has explained that minor civil works currently underway at the Presidents private home at the Airport Residential Area, are meant to improve security.

He wondered how such small-scale civil works being financed by the President himself could be described as a back track on his commitment to anti-Corruption ideals.

The Democrat Newspaper carried a story alleging that the President and his staffers eat food prepared by the Golden Tulip hotel and thus spend ?150 million a week on food. The story also said that the President was renovating his private home at Airport and wondered if the President really stands by his anti-corruption stance by undertaking such a project.
