Gov’t promises to rebuild Mallam Market

Government has pledged its support to traders who lost their items in the Mallam market fire outbreak in the early hours of yesterday.

The Mayor of Accra, Alfred Vanderpuije visited the market in solidarity with the victims of the unfortunate incident.

At about 6am on Monday, traders at the Mallam Market in Accra woke up to the sad scene of a ravaging fire which had engulfed the entire market.

The AMA Boss accompanied by officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) visited the market to assess the extent of damage and promised government’s commitment to ensuring the women get back to business as soon as possible.

Mr Vanderpuije said in a few days to come, the AMA would visit the market again to clear the debris and damaged stores after which it will mobilize materials to rebuild the market.

He sympathized with traders who had lost the entire livelihood to the fire and noted that, government would take full responsibility to work with them.
