Gov’t not honouring its pre-elections promises

Adeiso (E/R), June 29, GNA- The National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has accused the Government of not honouring promises it made during the last electioneering campaign.

He alleged that recruitment of cocoa spraying gangs was based on party affiliation.

The National Organiser was speaking at the primaries of the Upper West Akim Constituency branch of the NDC at Adeiso on Monday that returned the incumbent Member of Parliament, Mr Salas Mensah unopposed. Mr Ofosu-Ampofo called on the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning to tell Ghanaians some of the disadvantages of the Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) instead of drumming only one-sided aspect of the Initiative.

He said the harsh economic conditions that Ghanaians were facing now were due to HIPC conditions.

He said a government of the NDC would introduce social democratic policies, which would give relief to the poor.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo predicted that the NDC would retain all the eight seats that it won in the Region in Election 2000 and win nine more. He urged the Party’s branch Executives to work hard to ensure that they won at the polling stations to ensure a victory for the NDC in both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, Ms Ama Benyiwa-Doe, called on the Government to call for investigations of members of the Government, who had been accused of being corrupt.

Mr Salas Mensah promised that if he won the seat, he would concentrate more on development at the villages.
