Gov’t must urgently deal with issues of suicide – Dr. Osei

Ghana’s chief Psychiatrist, Dr. Akwasi Osei says government must put in place appropriate structures to address issues of suicide.

According to him, the issue must be considered seriously, else people, who genuinely require help, will continue to commit suicide.

His warning comes on the heels of another suicide by a 44-year-old lawyer in his office at Adabraka in the national capital.

Mr Kofi Yawson-Adjei was found hanging in his office Monday morning.

Dr. Akwasi Osei in an interview with XYZ News said it’s about time society recognized depression as the main cause of suicide in Ghana and dealt with it seriously.
