Gov’t must scrap Single Spine Pay Policy – IMANI

Ahead of the much anticipated forum on the Single Spine Salary Structure on Tuesday, IMANI Ghana has advised that the government considers scrapping the policy.

The policy think tank has however proposed a gradual phasing out of the policy rather than a one-time scrapping of it.

IMANI Ghana has maintained the principle behind the Single Spine Salary Structure which says all workers of the same qualification should be paid equally is inappropriate and misplaced.

IMANI Founding President Franklin Cudjoe who will be one of the discussants at the forum in an interview with XYZ News said his outfit will be pushing for serious consideration for a review of the policy.

But the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, the organization in charge of implementing the pay policy insists, progress is being made with the policy despite some challenges.

The Public Relations Officer of the Fair Wages and the Salaries Commission, Earl Ankrah, said the upcoming forum will provide opportunities for progressive review.
