The American partners of Ghana International Airlines(GIA) will go ahead to sue government for breach of contract.
GIA US is going to the International Court of Justice in The Hague over its disagreements with government over the running of the new national carrier.
They are also accusing government of lack of commitment to initial overtures to settle the differences out of court.
Aviation Minister Gloria Akuffo last week told the Accra-based radio station JoyFM of efforts she has been making to seek an out court settlement, but GIA US says it is bent on carrying through its threat.
A former Vice President of GIA Sammy Crabbe who represents the US partners told the radio station that they are not taking matters lightly, and accused their former partners of disregarding agreed procedures for resolving differences resulting from their business, besides going ahead to “paint honest people black.”
Crabbe says some members of the partnership have suffered gravely and the issue of going to court, which he said is agreeable to the government of Ghana, is a must.
Relations between government and GIA US hit the grounds after the former Chief Executive of the airline Brian Presby and other top management members were fired.
