Government has distanced itself from the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) arrest of former NPP constituency chairman, Omari Wadie.
Deputy Information Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed says government has no hand in the arrest of Mr. Wadie and so NPP should not associate that with government.
The NPP guru was arrested yesterday as soon as he touched down at the Kotoka International Airport from London.
His arrest has been linked to an alleged edited picture of President John Mahama having sex with a woman, which he purportedly posted on Facebook.
The deputy information minister said government condemns in no uncertain terms those who have also published similar ones on Nana Akufo-Addo.
Murtala Mohammed said the law must take its cause.
Meanwhile, scores of NPP supporters Tuesday morning massed up at the BNI headquarters demanding the release of Mr Omari Wadie. According to them, Mr Wadie is an asthmatic patient and report reaching them indicates that his health has been deteriorating.
As of 12:40pm Omari Wadie was still in the custody of the BNI.
Responding to difficulties NADMO is finding to get money to purchase relief items, Murtala Mohammed expressed hope the problem will soon be fixed.
The minister also touched on a technical team that has been set up by government to build this year, the first 50 of the 200 day senior high schools they promised in their manifesto.
