Govt commended for efforts to expand basic education

Winneba (C/R), Dec. 24, GNA – Members of the University of Education, Winneba branch of TESCOM have commended the government for its efforts at increasing access to basic education in the country. At a pre-vacation meeting at Winneba, members expressed the hope that key players charged to ensure the success of the Capitation Grant and the School Feeding Programme would strive to live above reproach. The members assured the leadership of the party, the government and all key players in the party of their uninterrupted support,

co-operation and commitment to the goals of the party. Addressing them later, Mr Samuel Okyere Sarpong, UCEW TESCOM President, charged members to use their yuletide holidays to canvass more support and undertake membership drive for the party. Mr Sarpong also urged them to play active roles in all communal activities geared towards the implementation of self-help projects initiated by the chiefs and opinion leaders in their towns and villages to improve social conditions in those areas.

He appealed to leaders, members, supporters and well wishers of the party to tolerate opposing views to sustain the country’s fledging democracy. 24 Dec. 06
