Govt auctions 2.5GHz and 2.6GHz spectrum

Ghana’s National Communications Authority (NCA) has started auctioning spectrum ranging between 2.5GHz and 2.69GHz. On March 16, NCA invited eligible entities to submit their bid by June 14, 2010. The Authority will allocate frequencies to up to 5 bidders for a 10-year period as follows: 2 slots of 30MHz blocks nationwide for operators using technologies that require unpaired spectrum; 2 slots of 2×15 MHz blocks nationwide for operators using technologies that require paired spectrum; one slot of 30MHz will be offered to the existing network operator in the 2.5-2.53GHz block in the 2.5-2.69Ghz band. The NCA set an entry fee of US$50,000.
