Govt asked to construct bridge over Akwaasua

Akim Asamama (E/R), June 20, GNA- Farmers at Akim Asamamah, a farming community near Anyinam in the Atiwa District in the Eastern Region, have appealed to the government to construct a bridge over river Akwaasua to facilitate the transportation of foodstuffs to market centres.

Mr Daniel Amoah told the Ghana News Agency that the recent rains have caused the river to overflow its banks thereby affecting the movements of farmers to and from their farms. He said the farmers have instituted a levy to raise funds towards the construction of a bridge.

Mr Amoah appealed to the District Assembly and the Department of Feeder Roads to ensure that the facility is provided to facilitate economic activities in the area.
