Gov’t Accused Of Assassination Attempt

Two former Ministers of State in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Era, Dr. Tony Aidoo and Mr Victor Gbeho have condemned last weekend’s security operation conducted in the vicinity of Former President Rawlings’ Ridge Residence.

The former deputy Defence Minister, Dr. Tony Aidoo accused the NPP government of attempting to assassinate former President Rawlings. He described, the security operation in the immediate neighbourhood of the former President as an action aimed at killing or intimidating him.

According to him, the operation was totally illegal, irrational and without any just cause. Dr. Tony Aidoo explained that the former President has now become an enigma to President Kufuor since Ghanaians would seek to test President Kufuor’s success and failures by the performance of the NDC.

The former Minister of Foreign-Affairs, and MP for Anlo, Mr Victor Gbeho, has also described the security raid as an action by gullible security officers or part of the government’s harassment campaign against the NDC.
