Government’s rural transformation programmes commended

Awiebo (W/R), July 19, GNA – The chief of Awiebo in the Nzema East District of the Western Region, Nana Ehuma Kpanyinli the sixth, has commended the government’s rural transformation programmes. He therefore, gave the assurance that his people will offer their full support to make the programmes succeed.

Nana Kpanyinli made the commendation when the Western Regional Minister, Mrs Esther Lily Nkansah, paid a courtesy call on him at his palace as part of her working visit to the district.

He noted that since the government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) took over in 1992, there has been remarkable improvement in education, water, and health facilities as well as access roads in all parts of the country. Electricity has also been extended to many district capitals.

The chief, who is also the national president of the Cocoa, Coffee and Sheanut Farmers Association, however, appealed to the government to rehabilitate the Awiebo, Basake and Aiyinase roads to facilitate the movement of goods and services.

He appealed to the Minister to help improve conditions at the Nana Kaku Bonzo Secondary School, the only high institution in the area. He urged the district assembly to renovate the local primary school.

Mrs Nkansah said her visit is to enable her to explain government policies and programmes to the people and learn about their problems at first hand.

The Minister and her entourage had earlier called on the chief of Basake, Nana Bonya Kofi the fifth, and visited Axim, Nkroful, Adubrim and Kutukrom among other places
