Ada Foah, (G/A) March 26, GNA – Captain Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey (rtd), Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, on Thursday said the Government would not countenance any person or group of people, who would attempt to create confusion in the country.
He warned that any person or individual caught in the act would be ruthlessly dealt with.
Capt. Effah-Dartey, who gave the warning at two separate functions at Togboloku and Ada Foah, all in the Dangbe East District, said the nation at the moment did not need anything but peace to nurture its young democracy.
He, therefore, called on all to be tolerant of each other, irrespective of the political party a person belonged to.
“If you are from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the New Patriotic Party (NPP), or any other party, we are all one people.”
The Deputy Minister reminded the inhabitants of the on-going registration exercise and urged them to go and register in order to cast their votes in Election 2004 and all subsequent elections and referendums.
Capt. Effah-Dartey, who is also the Member of parliament for Berekum, said the Government had noticed that most school facilities in the country were in a deplorable state and that informed its decision to embark on massive reconstruction and rehabilitation of educational infrastructure.
He said the NPP was the only Government that had been able to build 50 new schools in each district, and asked them to vote massively for the party.
He told the inhabitants that the NPP Government was the only government that had been able to source 75 per cent of the budget from its own resources, and urged them to vote for the NPP.
Capt. Effah-Dartey said the NPP believed in the development of its citizenry and urged them to honour their civic responsibility of paying their taxes to enable the Government to provide the necessary infrastructure for all and sundry.
