Government will give every support to the private sector – Minister

Dr Joe Oteng-Adjei, the Energy Minister, has pledged the government’s determination to create a business-friendly environment to aid the private sector to grow.

He said the government would do everything to make sure that the right conditions exist for the sector to thrive and create jobs and wealth for the people.

He was speaking at a ceremony at which he presented work tools to 49 unemployed young people trained in various vocations and trades, under the Local Enterprises and Skills Development Programme (LESDEP) in the Bosomtwe District at Kuntanase.

These included hair dryers, mobile phone repair kits, multi-purpose tricycles, gas cylinders, gas stoves and ovens.

The beneficiaries had received training in beauty care, cellular phone repairs, auto-spraying and catering.

Dr Oteng-Adjei urged them to adopt best business practices and good customer care.

The National Monitoring Coordinator of the LESDEP, Mr Kwame Osei-Wusu, spoke of plans to introduce tilapia breeding in the Bosomtwe Lake.

This, he said, was part of the effort to give jobs and make life better for the people in the lake basin.

He called on the beneficiaries of the working kits to make sure that they paid for them on time to enable others to also benefit.

Mr Edward Nti-Berko, District Chief Executive, asked them to apply their acquired trades to improve their economic situation also work hard to expand their businesses and employ others.

Nana Premoh Kwagyan, Krontihene of Kuntanase, commended the government for the intervention.**
