Kumasi, Oct. 26, GNA – The Ghana National Party (GNP), a new political grouping in the country, has called on the government to do all in its power to persuade members of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) to suspend their current strike action.
The party has also called on the Council of State, Christian Council of Ghana and the Ministry of Education to intervene and “invent a compromising strategy with our honourable teachers to allow our children the necessary advantage to adding value to their education”.
In a statement signed by Mr Kobina Amo-Aidoo, Interim National Chairman of the party and issued in Kumasi on Wednesday, the GNP expressed its dissatisfaction at the state of affairs in the country’s schools. It said as a supremely concerned political organisation, which had children, youth and education at heart, it found it appropriate to appeal to the government to “immediately provide a pragmatic alternative to saving the situation”.
