Government urged to create jobs for youth

Obuasi, Feb 24, GNA – Mr Michael Carr, the People’s National Convention (PNC) 2004 parliamentary candidate for Obuasi, has called on the government to create more jobs for the unemployed youth in the country.

He said the government could help the youth to go into income generating ventures such as animal rearing and other lucrative agricultural activities.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Obuasi, Mr Carr commended the government for the introduction of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

He said the scheme was economically good in terms of accessing health care.

“The NHIS is good and that all should join it. It is economically good when it comes to accessing health care without paying any money”, he stressed.

Mr Carr praised the Obuasi Chief Executive, Mr Joe Boampong and the Municipal Assembly for the good job to improve conditions in the municipality.

He urged the Assembly to work towards reducing road accidents on the town roads especially the highway from Obuasi-Amangoase to Brahabebome suburb. “To this end, let me suggest to the assembly to undertake road markings to help check the spate of accidents”, he said. Mr Carr appealed to the government to suspend the passage of the Representation of the People’s Amendment Bill (ROPAB) into law for the time being.
