Government to review GETFUND Act

Pusiga (U/E), May 24, GNA – Mrs. Elizabeth Amoah Tetteh, the Deputy Minister of Education, has said the government would soon review the Ghan a Education Trust Fund (GETFund) Act to cover critical areas of education. Those areas include scholarships, research, academic and residentia l facilities.

Mrs. Tetteh said this during the first congregation of the Gbewa College of Education at Pusiga. She said the government would soon undertake a comprehensive review of the curricular of all tertiary and second cycle institutions in consultat ion with relevant organizations to ensure educational system meet the demands of the labour market.

Mrs. Tetteh said government would also undertake research to develop the capacity of staff of tertiary institutions and would complete projects already started. Mrs. Tetteh said the government would continue to implement teacher incentive packages for teachers posted to rural areas. The Principal of the College, Pastor Luke Abugri, said water was o ne of the major problems facing the school. He appealed to the government to support the college with water, administration block, a bus and the renovation of the staff bungalows.
