Government to improve on its achievements

Nalerigu (N/R), Dec. 7, GNA – President John Evans Atta Mills, on Monday gave the assurance that the government would build on its achievements to improve the lives of Ghanaians at the end of its four-year term.

He said: “My government would also be retained in power in 2012 due to the progressive efforts we are putting up and would build on it year after year”. President Mills was addressing the chiefs and people of Nalerigu in East Mumprusi District to complete his four-day tour of the Northern Region. He said the government would soon begin constructing major roads across the country, modernizing agriculture by providing more tractors and other farm inputs and build more facilities to restore the confidence Ghanaians had reposed in him.

President Mills reassured the people that full scale investigations would be conducted into the murder of Mr. Moses Alando Banaba, PNC parliamentary candidate, to bring the perpetrators of the crime to justice adding that “The culture of impunity would not be tolerated”. The Overlord of Manprugu, Nayiri Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai, commended President Mills for the tour and requested for the establishment of Teacher Training College and Nursing Training College in the area. He appealed to government to complete work on the Walewale- Nalerigu road that had been abandoned.

Nayiri Abdulai called on the government to improve agriculture in the northern sector of the country to give jobs for the youths to prevent them from migrating to South in search for non-existent jobs.
