Government to improve major cocoa roads – DCE

Mr Joe Adansi-Bondah, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, has reiterated the government’s determination to improve the roads in all major cocoa growing communities.

In line with this, some selected roads in the area including the Adupri-Mframakrom-Tanoso and the Asawinso-Mmerewa had been awarded on contract.

The Assembly in its small way has also been funding routine maintenance works on some feeder roads linking the cocoa farming areas.

Mr Adansi-Bondah was addressing the first ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Bibiani.

He touched on rural electricity saying, a number of communities there had been hooked to the national grid. These include Chinchinase, Morno, Kwartengkrom, Donkoto, Lineso, Aboduabo and Kroboano.

The Assembly has also embarked on an intensive repair of street lights to boost security.

The DCE said in fulfillment of the government’s principles of equity and balanced development, a total of GH¢34,980.00 from the assembly’s share of the Common Fund had been used to support people with disability in the District.

Touching on the supply of motor bicycles to the assembly members, he said these must help them to better serve people in their electoral areas and warned that under no circumstance should the bicycles be sold.

Mr Adansi-Bondah thanked the chiefs and people in the District for the successful and smooth conduct of the just ended biometric voter registration.**
