The Government is establishing a database that will ensure that no piece of land is sold to more than one person.
This will, however, have to be preceded by the registration of all existing land titles in the country, says Mr Hackman Owusu Agyeman, Minister for the Interior.
Mr Owusu-Agyeman stated this yesterday when he presented five four-wheel drive Tata pick-up vehicles valued at ?775 million to the Ghana Police Service in Accra.
The vehicles are meant to support the efforts of the Police Service in checking the activities of ?land guards? at various flash points in the country.
The Minister said that the World Bank would fund the programme, which fell under the Ghana Land Administration Project (LAP).
Underscoring the importance of vehicles to the effectiveness of the police, Mr Owusu-Agyeman lamented the fact that 610 police stations in Ghana still had no operational vehicles at their disposal.
The Inspector General of Police, Nana Owusu Nsiah, who received the vehicles on behalf of the Police Service appealed to the Government to help solve the problem of police accommodation and also expressed his appreciation to the Government for its support over the years.
