Government to construct 1,200 bore holes in 2014

Mr Seth Tekper, Minister of Finance, has said government would in 2014 construct 1,200 new boreholes; rehabilitate 400 old ones in the Upper West, Upper East, Northern, Brong-Ahafo, Central and Western Regions of Ghana.

Mr Tekper said government would also develop 40 limited mechanised water facilities and 29 small town systems in those regions.

He made the statement on Tuesday when he presented the 2014 budget statement to Parliament.

Mr Terkper said government would continue with the construction of 1.5 km of defence wall along Atorkor-Dzita-Anyanui shoreline, Sakumono and Ada Sea Defence works.

“The expansion of the Nsawam water system, the Mampong water supply system and the Kumawu, Kwahu Ridge, Konongo water systems will be continued,” he added.

Mr Terkper said the Ngyiresia Sea Defence works to salvage the adjoining road from being totally washed away by the sea waves will commence.
