Government to Address Fire Service Logistical Challenges: Interior Minister Assures at Passing-Out Parade of Recruit Course 55

The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has pledged the government’s commitment to resolving logistical and equipment challenges facing the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). He made the assurance during the Passing Out Parade of Recruit Course 55 at the Fire Academy and Training School in James Town, Accra.

Addressing the newly trained recruits, the minister emphasized the critical importance of fire safety, particularly in light of recent market fire outbreaks that have tested the nation’s preparedness. “Fire safety can no longer be treated as a matter of choice or a distant concern,” he stated.

Hon. Mohammed-Mubarak commended the GNFS for its efforts, including a notable 2.3 percent decrease in fire incidents recorded in the first quarter of 2025. He encouraged the recruits to build on this momentum and give their best in safeguarding lives and properties.

The minister’s remarks come amidst growing calls for enhanced resourcing of the GNFS, which has faced challenges such as outdated equipment and insufficient logistical support. He assured personnel that the government is actively working to address these issues, underlining its commitment to boosting the Service’s capacity to respond effectively to emergencies.

The Passing Out Parade marked the completion of rigorous training for Recruit Course 55, who are now set to join the ranks of the GNFS in their mission to enhance fire safety and public protection across Ghana.
