Government reviews curfew on Bawku, Gushegu and their environs

Accra, Aug. 23, GNA – The Minister for the Interior has on the advice of the Northern and Upper East Regional Security Councils and by

Executive Instrument, renewed the curfews imposed on the Gushegu

Township, Bawku Municipality and their immediate environs with effect from Monday, August 23.

A statement issued in Accra on Monday and signed by Mr Martin A.B.K. Amidu, Interior Minister, said the curfew hours for the Gushegu Township

Would remain from 12:00 midnight to 4:00a.m and the Bawku Municipality from 11:00p.m to 4:00 a.m. each day.

It said Government was very much encouraged by the relative peace in both communities and continued to urge the people to work together towards ensuring the return of sustainable and lasting peace to their communities.

Meanwhile, Government reiterated that there is a ban on all persons in the Bawku Municipality and Gushegu Township and their immediate environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons, and any person found with any arms or ammunition would be arrested and prosecuted.
