Government releases money to upgrade SSS

Ajumako C/R, Nov 4, GNA – The government has released 11 trillion cedis for the upgrading of some senior secondary schools in 2006. Papa Owusu Ankomah, the Minister of Education, Science and Sports, said this in a speech read for him at a two-day capacity enhancement workshop at Ajumako in the Central Region.

He said the Ghana Education Trust Fund has spent four trillion cedis on projects in educational institutions with about 1.5 trillion cedis going to pre-tertiary institutions.

Papa Owusu Ankomah said the government has come out with a 10-year work plan for education to help resolve problems facing the education sector.

The Minister said weak monitoring and evaluation of schools in the districts had been identified as one of the key challenges confronting education.
