Government releases funds for Atebubu-Anyinofi road

Atebubu (Ash), April 28, GNA- The government has released 1.2 billion cedis for the construction of the 35-kilometre road from Atebubu to Anyinofi in the Atebubu portion of the Afram Plains. Mr Eric Raymond Quarm, Atebubu District Road Manager of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), who disclosed this on Tuesday, said the project, which would begin next week is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

He was briefing three chiefs from Anyinofi and its neighbouring communities who called on him to find out when that stretch of road was going to be rehabilitated.

Mr Quarm told them that the government’s rural roads improvement programme was on course and therefore pleaded with the people to exercise restraint in their demand for the rehabilitation of their road. The three chiefs expressed their appreciation to the government for including Anyinofi and Seneso in the rural roads improvement package.

Anyinofi and its surrounding communities in the Atebubu district’s portion of the Afram Plains are major producers of food crops but had been cut off from the rest of the district and the country in recent times due to the deplorable nature of the road.
