Government refurbishes X’ray department of Hohoe hospital

The Ministry of Health has refurbished the X’ray department of the Hohoe Government hospital under a 60 million-dollar nation-wide project between the government of Ghana and the Netherlands. Under the project, 95 X’ray departments of district hospitals are to be provided with modern equipment, including those for ultra-sound tests. The project is being executed by Philips Medical Systems of the Netherlands. At a ceremony on Wednesday to hand over the refurbished department, Dr Nicholas Adjabu, Deputy head, Bio-medical Engineering unit of the Ministry of Health, said all district hospitals in the Volta Region would be covered by the project. He appealed to health personnel to handle equipment supplied to them with special care. Mr S.K. Sikoar, Customer Support Manager of Philips Medical Systems, said the equipment have been guaranteed for five years after which maintenance would be done by the hospital.

They received certificates with cash awards of 100,000 cedis, 75,000 cedis and 50,000 cedis respectively. GRi
