Government places high premium on education 96 DCE

Busunya (B/A), Aug. 11, (Credit Adu Simon) GNA – Mr. Kwadwo Agyei-Dwomor, Nkoranza North District Chief Executive, has said the government would continue to place high premium on education since it is the bedrock of every nation’s development.

Mr. Agyei-Dwomor said this when he presented 30 pieces of wax print to selected hard working teachers serving in deprived communities as well as 40 bicycles to school children who trek several kilometres to attend classes in the district.

He reiterated the importance for all stakeholders to play their roles and to support the government to make quality education affordable.

Mr. Agyei-Dwomor expressed concern about the abysmal performance of some junior high schools in the area in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and urged teachers to redouble efforts to improve the academic performance of students.

Madam Phillipa Banson, the Nkoranza District Director of Education, said the bicycles and the wax prints were incentive packages provided by the assembly and the education directorate to motivate hard working teachers and students in the area.

She urged the beneficiaries not to relent in efforts but rather to work harder to achieve better educational standards.
