Government not funding Dumelo’s tour – Anyidoho

More and more Ghanaian celebrities are endorsing the candidature of President John Dramani Mahama ahead of his closest contender, Nana Akufo-Addo for the December 7 presidential and parliamentary polls.

But these known public figures are believed to be milking from state purse to help in their outreaches for the incumbent President.

This has left some New Patriotic Party [NPP] frontrunners like the Deputy Communications Director, Anthony Karbo to question government on the expenditure of these celebrities and as well as attacking some of the stars in public – insisting they are opportunists.

Majority of the entertainers are rooting for the president due to his developmental projects documented in the infamous ‘Green Book’.

The list keeps adding up – award winning actor John Dumelo, radio presenter, Abeiku Aggrey Santana; actor, songstress Mzbel, Clement Bonney alias Mr. Beautiful, highlife musician Nat Brew Amandzeba and actress Kalsoum Sinare, have all publicly stated their preference for President Mahama.

John Dumelo who is currently touring some Senior High Schools across the country to campaign for the President is believed to have been given a Toyota Land Cruiser and a huge sum of money for his tour.

But the Deputy National General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho has strongly denied government funding Dumelo’s campaign tour and giving others luxury gifts including cars.

“I beg you, I don’t want to comment on this. I don’t know anything about this, so I am not commenting on this. All I can say is that, some endorse Akufo-Addo so if others are endorsing President Mahama there is nothing wrong with that,” he said on NEAT FM’s morning show dubbed ‘Ghana Montie’.
